Samantha Igihozo Ines, born in 2004, is the firstborn in her family. Life pushed her to take responsibility early, even before she completed school. But instead of giving up, she kept learning through life and through sport.
She joined 1000 HILLS RUGBY after being introduced by her younger sister, Liliane Umwiza. What she found there was more than rugby. She found people with shared stories, support, and a sense of belonging. She learned the game, grew into one of the strongest forwards in the 1000 HILLS RUGBY Queens, and took part in leadership trainings that shaped her beyond the field.
Today, Samantha is the Women’s Team Manager.
For her, the club is family. Having grown up without older brothers, she often speaks about how the team became a place where she feels at home—especially now that she carries responsibility as a team manager.

"Rugby taught me discipline, respect, teamwork, and how to overcome challenges." She says;
She is now not only a leader, but also an example to younger players, showing them that growth is possible, even when life doesn’t follow a straight path.
Looking ahead, her dream is becoming a businesswoman, so she can continue supporting rugby especially the women's team that helped shape her journey.
