Where I Learned to Be Me
When you meet Nadia, the first thing you notice is her smile warm, bright, and full of a joy she worked hard to earn. But behind that smile is a journey shaped by courage, loss, discovery, and the power of belonging.

Nadia first discovered rugby at school. At the time, she didn’t fully understand the game; she only knew one thing it made her happy. She joined simply to enjoy herself. She was in Primary 4 then, a young girl chasing a ball with curiosity and laughter. What she didn’t know was that rugby would become a home she never expected.
As she grew older, Nadia joined 1000 HILLS RUGBY, and that’s when everything changed. She began to understand the game deeply, not just how to play it, but what it meant. Her dream became clear: to become a role model, especially as a centre or winger, and later, even as a referee.

She is not only talented she is an example.
For two years, she served as a captain of our women’s team, carrying responsibility with humility and strength before passing the role on to others to continue the journey. In doing so, she didn’t step away she created space for others to grow. That is legacy.

But her story goes deeper than rugby skills.

But her story goes deeper than rugby skills.

Nadia did not grow up with both of her parents. That absence shaped her life, challenged her emotionally, and forced her to mature early. Some days were heavy. Some moments painful. Yet rugby became her escape a place where pain softened and joy returned.

When she is at 1000 HILLS RUGBY, something changes.
She forgets the weight she carries.
She laughs freely.
She belongs.

“This club is my family,” she says. “It is where I feel like myself. It is where I am truly me.”

She looks up to her coaches not just for their knowledge of the game, but for their inspiring stories, guidance, and belief in young people.

Today, Nadia stands as one of the most exemplary players in the team disciplined, committed, encouraging others both on and off the field. Her presence reminds younger girls that leadership is not about shouting the loudest, but about walking the right path.

And her message to young girls is simple but powerful:

Be patient in life. Put God first in everything you do.
Never let anyone discourage you.
Fight for your dreams until your very last breath.
And when you choose something give it your whole heart. Don’t walk halfway into your destiny.

Nadia’s journey reminds us why rugby matters.
It is more than a sport it is family, healing, confidence, and hope.

Her story is still being written and it shines with promise.
