This past weekend, 1000 Hills Rugby once again showcased the spirit that defines the organisation: passion, resilience, and a deep commitment to community. Through a spirited Fun Rugby session on Saturday at Don Bosco Gatenga and a strong turnout at Kigali’s Car Free Day on Sunday, players across all age groups embraced every opportunity to grow both on and off the field.
Battling the Elements: Fun Rugby at Don Bosco Gatenga
Saturday at Don Bosco Gatenga was filled with energy as 96 players from senior men’s and women’s teams, to age-grade players and grassroots participants took part in the club’s regular Fun Rugby session.
True to the 1000 Hills Rugby spirit, players refused to be deterred by the rain and muddy conditions. Instead, they turned the weather into an opportunity to sharpen their adaptability, teamwork, and resilience.
Across the day, players practiced essential rugby skills including ball handling under pressure, support play, and spatial awareness, maintaining a 100% session completion rate despite the challenging environment. Coaches and volunteers noted the players' infectious energy and commitment, a clear reflection of the club’s culture of perseverance.
