At 1000 Hills Rugby, we do more than play the game. We help young people grow, learn, and prepare for the future. When we needed an office, we didn’t just rent a ready one. We decided to build it ourselves, with the help of our players and support from Maboko Engineering Company.
Teamwork in Action On and Off the Field
About 10 of our players helped build the office and organize all the work and materials needed. With guidance from Maboko Engineering, they worked together to turn an empty space into a real office.
They learned how to work with wood, steel, paint, and branding tools. This project proved that the spirit of rugby, teamwork, discipline, and effort can be used in many ways beyond the field.

Our New Home in Kicukiro
The new office is on the first floor of the EEAR Commercial Building on KK15 Road in Kicukiro. Our players built walls, desks, and furniture. They painted the office and added our logo and colors. What was once an empty room is now a working space where we plan activities, support our members, and welcome visitors.
We will also employ an office administrator from our community to help run daily activities. This office is not just for us, it’s a place where our partners, supporters, and anyone interested in learning about our work can visit and feel welcome.

Learning Skills for Life
For some players, this was their first time using tools like hammers, drills, and paintbrushes. They learned carpentry, metalwork, painting, and branding skills they can use in future jobs or personal projects.
As one of our young players, Prince Shema emphasised, “It wasn’t just about building an office. It was about learning something I can use in life.”
Some of them are already using these skills to help their families or earn income in their communities.

Helping Over 123 Young People in Kicukiro
1000 Hills Rugby runs programs that support more than 123 young people in Kicukiro District. We provide education, life skills, job readiness training, and sports activities to help youth build confidence and prepare for work.
This new office will help us manage and grow these programs more effectively.

A Place We Built Ourselves
Because our players helped build the office, they feel proud and responsible for it. “When you build something with your own hands, you take care of it,” one of our players Diego Mucungura shared.
We also saved money by using our own team and local materials. This shows that with teamwork and creativity, it’s possible to do great things, even with limited resources.

A Model for Others
Other sports clubs and community groups have seen what we have done and are now inspired to try the same. This is more than just a building, it’s a story of youth power, teamwork, and local skills.
More Than a Game
At 1000 Hills Rugby, we believe rugby is more than a sport. It is a tool for learning, growing, and building a better future. Through this office project, our players didn’t just gain new skills, they helped build a space that will serve the whole community for many years to come.
